Our Purpose
The purpose of Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc. shall be to open doors of opportunity to the Latinas of our community. Our primary focuses are academic excellence and meeting the needs of Latina women in higher education. Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc. also promotes the advancement of Latinas through various campus activities and community services and provides an environment for personal growth within a unit of sisterhood.
Our History
1986
At California State University, Chico, eighteen Latina women established Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc., the first Latina Sorority on the West Coast.
1987
The Divine Nine introduced us to stepping--a percussive dance form created by Black Greek organizations.
1989
We became the first Sorority to step with Machetes. Using machetes represents Latina women moving into male-dominated spaces.
1998
We were one of nine founding members of the National Association for Latino Fraternal Organizations (NALFO).
2001
We established Tijeras, our national philanthropy fund, dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities for the Latinx community.
2003
Five Latina women established the Chi Chapter of Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc., creating Stanford's first Latina sorority.

So far, Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc. has forty-four chapters across eleven states and continues to grow!
Our Facts
Our founding date is March 11th, 1986.
Our colors are Silver, Burgundy, and White.
Our symbol is the rose.
Our nickname is Lambdas or Sexy Silver Roses.
